Maurizio Abate is a self-taught guitar player active since the early 2000s and especially fond of any string instruments.
His research and instinctive approach to experimentation, together with the primordial intensity of sound, have brought him to explore different forms of expression, ranging from blues, folk, electronic and psychedelic music.
Since 2006, he has released several records, both as solo efforts and collective projects, and toured Italy and Europe several times.
He is also involved in producing, recording and mixing records of other musicians and kindred spirits.
In 2009 and 2010 he's also been a music collaborator for the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, having the honour to perform on "Nearly Ninety" together with Takehisa Kosugi and John Paul Jones.

Maurizio Abate è un chitarrista autodidatta attivo fin dai primi anni 2000 e mosso da una particolare fascinazione per gli strumenti a corda.
La sua ricerca e il suo approccio istintivo alla sperimentazione, in perenne connessione con la primigenia intensità del suono, lo ha portato a esplorare differenti forme di espressione che incorporassero la materia del blues, del folk dell’elettronica e della psichedelia.
Dal 2006 ha fatto uscire dischi a suo nome e con progetti collettivi e ha partecipato numerosi tour in Italia ed Europa,
si è inoltre occupato di diverse fasi di produzione, dalla registrazione al missaggio di dischi di altri musicisti spiriti affini.
Tra il 2009 e il 2010 ha collaborato con la Merce Cunningham Dance Company, partecipando alla rappresentazione di "Nearly Ninety" al fianco di Takehisa Kosugi e di John Paul Jones.
